This project is currently in progress, and will be completed in April of 2017. It is my Masters Thesis project, using the theories presented by Will Eisner and Scott McCloud regarding gutters as a way of dividing attention to create an augmented reality comic book with Vuforia where the attention is split roughly evenly between the tangible comic book and the digital space.
This is my first proof of concept, using IDW’s comic book Transformers: More Than Meets The Eye as a pre-existing base. This is where I discovered that Unity cannot export video textures to mobile devices.
This is a later step in the process, showing the early stages of development. Here I am using my own artwork, made in Adobe Photoshop, to mark the augmented reality changes. The green borders indicate that they are AR panels, when the reader is going through the book with their device.
